Icy Point, Alaska (Hoonah is the Indian Name)

Our next port of call was Hoonah, Alaska (a little former salmon fishing spot that was turned into a tourist trap by the Royal Caribbean people.) We used tenders to get back and forth to shore. There is no deep water docking here. This is the entire community. Not much here. Actually around the point is the real village - this is just their tourist trap. There are about 25 shops and one store.Like I said this was a former Salmon fishing port. They did the canning in the building where are the shops are now.
The big attraction on this island is the ZipRider - the largest one in the world supposedly. It is a mile and a half long - drops 1500 feet, and lasts 90 seconds. The cost? Try $92 - too steep for mom unfortunately. We saved the money for more exciting things later. We actually saw a whale just off shore as we walked around but I only have video of that.
